ICYMI: Here are the top five things that happened in the Big West last week….In Case You Missed It!

1. CSUN’s Fluker Sets School Record In Rebounds

Sophomore Channon Fluker finished with 27 points and 14 rebounds to set the school record for single-season rebounds as the CSUN women’s basketball team (14-11, 7-4) defeated UC Irvine 85-77 Thursday night in a Big West Conference game at The Matadome. Fluker grabbed her sixth rebound midway through the first half to give her 295 for the season at the time, taking the school record from Pam Spencer who had 294 rebounds in the 1979-80 season. 2. #BigWestCares: 10th Annual Coin Drive Reaches Halfway Mark

The 10th annual Big West Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Coin Drive has reached the midway point and the nine conference institutions have raised $4,252.42. Full Story

3. Big West Trio Named To 2017 Collegiate National Team Staff

USA Baseball announced the coaching staff for the 2017 Collegiate National Team on Tuesday. Dave Snow, Troy Buckley (Long Beach State), Rick Vanderhook (Cal State Fullerton) and Larry Lee (Cal Poly) join John Savage (UCLA), who was named manager of the team in December, on the staff.  Full Story

4. Baseball To Adopt Dylan Cavender In Conjunction With “Friends of Jaclyn Foundation”

The UC Riverside baseball team is holding a special press conference at “The Plex” on Tuesday, February 14 at 2:45 pm PT to announce the team’s adoption of Dylan Cavender in conjunction with the “Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.”  The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers, and to raise awareness through their “Adopt-A-Child,” “Safe on the Sidelines,” and “Guardian Angel” programs. 5. Two Basketball Coaches Hit Milestones

Hart’s Late Tip-In Gives Williams His 500th Coaching Victory, 56-54 Over Hawai’i

Alex Hart’s tip-in with 2.5 seconds to play gave UC Santa Barbara a 56-54 victory over visiting University of Hawai’i on Thursday night. The win ended an 8-game Gaucho losing streak and it was the 500th in the career of head coach Bob Williams. Full Story

Win Over Hawai’i Gives CSUN’s Flowers 100th Victory

Sophomore Channon Fluker scored a season-high 33 points and tied a career high with 15 field goals to help lead the CSUN women’s basketball team (15-11, 8-4 Big West) to a 60-49 victory over Hawai’i Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. Junior Serafina Maulupe added 13 points and CSUN head coach Jason Flowers recorded his 100th career victory as the Matadors won in Hawai’i for the first time in program history. Full Story
