UC IRVINE FALLS TO CAL IN NCAA ACTION
After earning a #4 seed, UC Irvine fell 9-7 to California in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  UCI closes out its 2017 campaign ranked fifth nationally with a 23-7 mark overall.

POLLSTER
UC Irvine spent the entirity of the 2017 season in the top 10 in the national poll, its highest-rank coming in at No. 5  where it spent the last three weeks of the campaign. The Anteaters owned a No. 5 ranking for a total of five weeks this season. No. 5 is also the highest ranking achieved by a Big West program; Hawai‘i also earned a the No. 5 spot the second week of the season.

BROOKS IN THE BOOKS
UC Irvine junior Mary Brooks wrote her name in the Big West Tournament record book after a six-score performance in the semifinals and a four-goal outing in the championship. Her 10 goals set a new Big West Tournament record as did her six scores against host, UC Davis, in the semis. Brooks also received the Most Valuable Player award in the tournament for her standout efforts to add to her two-time Player of the Year  honors (2016, 2017).

SANCHEZ AMONG THE GREATS
CSUN senior Madeleine Sanchez took her place in Big West history as her 74 goals in 2017 rank eighth-best in the league’s nine year history. Her 2.55 goals per game average is fourth-best all-time.

POST SEASON AWARDS
For the second consecutive year, UCI junior Mary Brooks collected second team honors on the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches NCAA Division I All-American team.
