Big West Announces ESPN3 Fall Schedule

The #BWConESPN3 will broadcast a total of 13 fall events between women's volleyball and women's soccer.2017 ESPN3 Fall Schedule

The Big West Conference today revealed that 13 fall events will be streamed via ESPN3, beginning with a Sept. 19 women’s volleyball battle between Long Beach State and UC Riverside.
Nine women’s volleyball and four women’s soccer contests compose the slate in the fifth year of the Big West’s collaboration with ESPN, in which more than 60 events are produced annually.
All nine member schools will be represented at least twice in the package.
First-year Long Beach State head coach Joy McKienzie-Fuerbringer makes her conference and ESPN3 debut in that UC Riverside match.  McKienzie-Fuerbringer, the fifth head coach in program history, was an All-American setter for the Beach and helped the 1993 team win a national championship.  She replaces legendary mentor Brian Gimmillaro, who retired after 32 years as the leader of the program.
The Beach also hosts UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Sept. 30 and UC Davis on Friday, Oct. 27.
Two-time defending Big West champion Hawai‘i appears twice in the package, seeking a three-peat under first-year head coach Robyn Ah Mow-Santos.  She replaced another Big West legend in Dave Shoji, who commandeered the program to four national championships and finished a 42-year run with 1,202 wins, second-most in NCAA Division I history.  The third head coach in program history, Ah Mow-Santos was a two-time AVCA first team All-American setter and appeared in three Olympic Games for the United States.
Fans get their first sneak peek of the Rainbow Wahine on Friday, Sept. 29 at Cal State Fullerton, and again on Saturday, Oct. 14 at CSUN.  UH is favored to win the Big West according to the results of the preseason coaches poll.
The runner-up team in that poll, Cal Poly, makes two road appearances.  The Mustangs face UC Irvine on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and UC Riverside on Friday, Nov. 17.
UC Davis and CSUN each make their second appearance in the package when they play each other on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Matadome.
The final women’s volleyball tilt occurs on Saturday, Nov. 18 when UC Santa Barbara travels to UC Riverside.
Two women’s soccer regular season contests will be streamed on ESPN3.  UC Davis visits UC Irvine on Thursday, Oct. 12, while UC Santa Barbara plays at Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Women’s soccer action on ESPN3 wraps up on Thursday, Nov. 2 with two semifinal games in the Big West Tournament, which is hosted this year by defending regular season champion CSUN.
