Boyal, Hinkle Shine at Bill Dellinger Invitational
A pair of seniors from Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara turned in impressive performances at the prestigious Bill Dellinger Invitational to capture the cross country weekly awards.
Boyal Finishes 21st In Loaded Bill Dellinger Field
Cal Poly senior Swarnjit Boyal (Yuba City, Calif./River Valley HS) notched his fourth career Big West Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor after placing 21st at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
Boyal ran a time of 24:06.3 in the 8K on the Springfield Golf Course in Oregon. He competed against runners from nationally ranked programs in BYU, Stanford and Oregon.
He led the Mustangs to a seventh place finish overall at the meet. In dual scoring, Cal Poly won matchups over Idaho (21-38) and UC Santa Barbara (19-44).

Hinkle Records Top 10 Finish In Oregon
UC Santa Barbara senior Jenna Hinkle (Cottonwood, Calif./West Valley HS) posted a personal-best 6K time at a competitive Bill Dellinger Invitational, earning the selection as Big West Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
Hinkle clashed with top competition on the Springfield Golf Course as she finished an impressive eighth place in a time of 19:17.1 in the field of 107 runners. She outclassed runners from nationally ranked programs such as Oregon, Washington and Stanford.
Led by Hinkle’s top-10 showing, the Gauchos took eighth place as a team.
