A day after earning her second Big West Player of the Week award of the 2017 season, UC Santa Barbara’s Lindsey Ruddins was named AVCA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week.
The 6-2 outside hitter averaged 6.64 kills per set on .300 hitting in three victories, while talling 73 of the team’s 143 total kills in wins over UC Davis, Long Beach State and CSUN.
Ruddins pounded 26 kills against the Aggies, 27 versus the Beach and 20 more against the Matadors, giving her 20-plus kills in four straight and 12 matches overall this season.
Ruddins, who has led UCSB in kills in 16 straight appearances, hit .339 against UC Davis and added 15 digs. Her 27 putaways against LBSU was her best in a conference match this season, while 16 digs secured her seventh double-double of the season.
She swung at a .325 clip (20-7-40) against the Matadors to go along with a pair of aces and blocks.
This is the seventh Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honor in program history, and the first since Rebecca Saraceno took home the honor on September 29, 2009.
