Averaging a double-double over three games, UC Davis senior Chima Moneke (Canberra, Australia/Northeast Community College) earned his second career Big West Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor.
Moneke posted conference-leading numbers of 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in a 2-1 opening week for the Aggies. He helped UC Davis to road wins over Northern Colorado and Pacific.
The 6-6 forward erupted for a career-high 28 points in the 74-59 season-opening victory at Northern Colorado. He hit his first career three-pointer in that game en route to 10 of 21 shooting. Moneke added eight rebounds and a block while also shooting an effective 7 of 9 from the free throw line.
In the 62-58 win over Pacific – the program’s first in Stockton since the 1939-40 season – Moneke provided his 15th career double-double with a game-high 26 points and 10 rebounds. He made 8 of 17 floor shots, including two more three-pointers, and was again solid at the stripe with 8 of 10 accuracy.
Moneke posted his 16th career double-double with a team-high 18 points and game-high 12 boards at Utah Valley. He tied his career best with four assists.
