Leaupepe Explodes For Career-High 40 In Win
DYNN LEAUPEPE, CAL POLY
Senior • Guard • Camarillo, Calif. • Camarillo HS
➜ Leaupepe’s 40 points is tied for No. 6 nationally for highest total in a Division I game this season. It is the first 40-point game by a Mustang since Dec. 21, 2011 – when Kristina Santiago netted 44 against San Diego State. The school record of 46 was set in 1982 by Laura Buehning.
➜ The 5-9 guard drained 12 of 19 floor shoots, including three treys, and went 13 of 16 at the free throw line to keep the Mustangs in the game, and help overcome a 13-point fourth quarter deficit. That was Cal Poly’s largest comeback win since Nov. 23, 2014.
➜ Added 10 rebounds against the Highlanders to post her first double-double of the season. Had two assists and two steals in 35 minutes of action.
➜ Leaupepe dropped 30 points on rival UC Santa Barbara in a 73-68 loss. She had 12 made field goals (in 27 attempts) and hit all but one of six free throw attempts.
➜ She now has six 20-point games, three 30-point games and one 40-point game to her credit this season.
➜ Leaupepe moved to within six points of the career 1,300-point milestone and to No. 11 all-time at Cal Poly in career rebounds (513).
