#BigWestCares: SAAC Raises More Than $14,000 for 11th Annual Coin Drive
2018 Big West Coin Drive Final Release
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised more than $14,000 to finish the 11th annual Big West Coin Drive.
The Coin Drive, which takes place each February, unfolds on the nine conference campuses with the respective SAAC’s collecting donations for a designated charity.
For the first time in coin drive history, UC Riverside raised the most money with $3,600.10 going to the Riverside Community Settlement Association. The Highlanders have now raised over $13,000 in the coin drive’s 11-year history. In total, the Big West Coin Drive has raised over $211,000 with an 11-year aggregate of $211,016.99.
Hawai‘i raised the second-highest total among the membership for the third year in a row with $2,200.00. UC Irvine raised $1,700.81 to bring in the third-highest total in the conference.
Each of the nine Big West SAAC’s donated to a wide variety of charities. Those charities include Cal Poly (Hearst Cancer Resource Center); Cal State Fullerton (Donate Life); CSUUN (Matador Fire Relief); Long Beach State (CSULB Beach Pantry); UC Irvine (Active Minds @ UCI); UC Riverside (Riverside Community Settlement Association); UC Santa Barbara (United Way Thomas Fire and Flood Fund); Hawai‘i (Hawai‘i Pacific American Cancer Society).
