Big West Announces Baseball, Softball Package On ESPN3

A total of 19 Big West spring sports contests – 12 baseball and seven softball – will be featured on ESPN3, Commissioner Dennis Farrell announced Monday.
   
Every Big West institution will appear at least once on the schedule.
   
The package begins on the opening weekend of baseball conference action.  Hawai‘i faces UC Irvine on back-to-back nights at Anteater Ballpark on Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30.
   
The entire UC Santa Barbara at UC Irvine series from April 13-15 will appear next on the ESPN3 schedule.  UC Riverside will also host the Long Beach State series from May 4-6.
   
As the baseball season winds down, preseason Big West favorite Cal State Fullerton hosts CSUN for a pair of games at Goodwin Field on Thursday, May 17 and Saturday, May 19.  The final two baseball games in the package occur on May 25-26 with Cal Poly visiting UC Riverside.
   
Softball is comprised of three doubleheaders and a single game.
   
Initial ESPN3 coverage for softball begins Saturday, March 31 with a doubleheader at Anderson Family Field as preseason Big West favorite Cal State Fullerton welcomes in UC Santa Barbara.
   
Nationally ranked Long Beach State – No. 22 by USA Today/NFCA and No. 25 in the ESPN/USA Softball poll – hosts a Saturday, April 7 doubleheader against UC Riverside.  The Beach own a conference-best 26-7 record.  The Highlanders are second in win total with 23.
   
The Titans host their second ESPN3 doubleheader on Saturday, April 28 against upstart UC Davis, which is 18-11 this season.  Softball coverage concludes on Saturday, May 12 with a single game at CSUN’s Matador Diamond against visiting Long Beach State.
