ICYMI: Here are the top five things that happened in the Big West last week….In Case You Missed It!

1. Big West Men’s Volleyball Tournament All-Session Tickets On Sale

All-session tickets for the inaugural Big West Men’s Volleyball Tournament at Long Beach State’s Walter Pyramid went on sale Monday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m. (PT). Fans can call the LBSU ticket office at 562-985-4949. All-session tickets cost $35 for adults, $27 for children (ages 3-12) and seniors (ages 60 and above), and $12 for students. Full Story

2. UC Davis’ Gross Finalist For WBCA National Coach Of The Year

A two-time Big West Conference Coach of the Year, UC Davis head women’s basketball coach Jennifer Gross was named as one of 10 finalists for the 2018 United States Marine Corps/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Pat Summitt Trophy awarded to the nation’s coach of the year, the organization announced on Thursday. Gross guided the Aggies ti the quarterfinals of the WNIT, a first for the Big West Conference since 2000. Full Story

3. Cal Poly, Hawai’i Beach Volleyball On Double-Digit Win Streaks

The Cal Poly beach volleyball team continued its strong start to the season Saturday by winning both of its matches to earn their 10th and 11 wins in a row. The No. 7 Mustangs (14-2, 1-0) defeated CSU Bakersfield in their first match of the day 5-0 to win its first conference match of the season and took down 15th ranked Loyola Marymount 3-2 later in the day. The No. 3 University of Hawai’i beach volleyball team capped a perfect 4-0 weekend at the Gamecock Challenge with two more wins Sunday at Wheeler Beach on the campus of South Carolina. The Rainbow Wahine (18-3) overwhelmed both Florida Gulf Coast and UAB by identical 5-0 scores to move their win streak to a program record-tying 13 straight matches. Full Story

4. UC Davis Catapults Into Commissioner’s Cup Lead

A strong basketball season powered UC Davis to an impressive lead in the Commissioner’s Cup race with just the spring season to go. The Aggies swept the basketball titles to claim all 400 points during hoops season, upping their overall Cup average to 138.6. UCD was in third with a 115.0-point average after the fall, claiming the men’s soccer North Division title and placing in the top three in men’s and women’s cross country.  Full Story

5.LBSU’s Arroyo Will Join USA Men’s Senior National Team As Assistant Coach

 Long Beach State water polo head coach Gavin Arroyo will once again being representing the United States when he joins head coach Dejan Udovicic and the Men’s Senior National Team as an assistant coach when the team competes in two exhibition matches against Australia March 28 and March 30.  Full Story
