ICYMI: Here are the top five things that happened in the Big West last week….In Case You Missed It!


1. Eastman Tosses Fifth No-Hitter in Program History, As Titans Win Big West Opener

College baseball history was made on Thursday, as Colton Eastman put together one of the most spectacular pitching performances in Titan Baseball history. He tossed the fifth no-hitter program history en route to a 3-0 victory over UC Santa Barbara in the Big West Conference opener out at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium. Full Story


2. LBSU’s Meza Breaks School Record With 17 Strikeouts In Dominant Performance To Open League Play; Follows Up With A No-Hitter

No. 18 Long Beach State gave ace Cielo Meza plenty of run support early and the sophomore did the rest, striking out a school-record 17 on the way to a 6-0 win over Hawai’i.  Meza broke the school record of 16 strikeouts in one game, held by Brooke Turner in a 10-inning game and set back in 2008. The sophomore improved to 15-2 on the year and pitched her seventh shutout of the season, allowing just four hits on the day against Hawai’i (16-14, 0-1 Big West).  Full Story


3. Masuda Captures Anuenue Spring Break Classic Title; Hawai’i Ties For Team Title

University of Hawai’i junior Kaci Masuda captured the Anuenue Spring Break Classic title by three strokes after a final round 70 Wednesday at Kapalua’s Bay Course.  Masuda, a Pearl City, O’ahu native, is UH’s first medalist since Eimi Koga captured the 2015 Hobble Creek Classic. Her final score of 4-under 212 was three strokes better than runner-up Lauren Hartlage of Louisville, who finished at 1-under 215.

4. LBSU Men’s Volleyball Remains Undefeated With Pair Of Wins Over No. 4 UCI

Redshirt junior Nick Amado had an impressive night at the net as he put up a career-high nine blocks, while junior Kyle Ensing added a double-double in top-ranked Long Beach State’s 3-1 [25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 25-20] victory at No. 4 UC Irvine on Saturday night. The Beach (21-0, 6-0 Big West) turned in several strong performances in the match as they extend their winning streak to 21, just one victory shy of the program-record.  Full Story


5. Big West Team Advances In 3X3U Tournament

The Big West, made up of  Leland King II ( Santa Barbara), Chance Murray (UC Riverside), Victor Joseph (Cal Poly), Gabe Vincent (Santa Barbara) made it to the 3X3U semis at the Final Four.
