Cal State Fullerton Remains On Top As Regular Season Winds Down

ANOTHER SWEEP FOR THE TITANS
With another 3-0 sweep in league, the Titans recorded its fourth sweep in conference play and fifth-straight series win.  The Titans hosted UC Davis to move to 14-1 on the year in Big West play.  Senior Mikaela Francis punctuated the CSF win Saturday with a walkoff home run in the seventh as the Titans plated six in the final frame. CSF then squared off with the No. 1 team in the nation, UCLA, at home.  The Titans dropped its first contest in eight games to the Bruins and is now 0-2 against top-10 teams this season -- the Titans dropped a 14-3 contest to No. 5 Oklahoma earlier this year.  Overall the Titans are 2-8 against ranked opponents in 2018, both of its winc coming against league-foe, Long Beach Sate.  Fullerton takes an unbeaten mark on the road in league  to Cal Poly where the Titans look to keep sole possession of first place on its fifth roadtrip of the year.

LBSU’S ROWLAND  INCHES CLOSER TO RECORD
Long Beach State sophomore, Taylor Rowland continues to climb in the Big West record book with 55 runs batted in this season.  Her 55 RBI tie for fifth-most in a single season in the conference record book and the sophomore is just four away from tying the all-time league mark at 59.  The Beach has six games remaining on its regular season schedule. 


NO-HITTER HIGHLIGHTS LBSU WEEKEND
On Saturday at home against Cal Poly, senior pitcher Jessica Flores led Long Beach State to a 1-0 shutout victory from the circle, tossing her first-career no-hitter.  The no-no is the third for the Beach this season (Cielo Meza: 3/3, 3/31) and the fifth in the Big West this year.  The Beach would go on to win the series 2-1. 

After a weekend on home territory, LBSU heads north fo face UC Davis.  At 12-3 in league and second in the standings just behind Cal State Fullerton, the Beach looks for a victorious showing up north as the regular season winds down.

CSUN OFFENSE POWERS MATADORS

CSUN dominated offensively versus UC Santa Barbara, plating a season-high 13 runs in a 13-5 victory, Sunday.  Jessica Alexander led the Matadors, going 3-3 at the plate with three runs scored and a walk.  Mackenzie Babbitt went 2-3 while Journey Rojas went 2-3 with three RBI.  In total, the Matadors recorded 12 hits and 11 RBI in the series finale.
