As announced Thursday by the NFCA, 11 softball players received All-Region postseason honors.
The 11 selections were split amongst two regions with most of the selections coming in the West. In that region, Long Beach State’s Cielo Meza and Taylor Rowland led the selections with first team status. Second team All-West accolades were haded to LBSU’s Naomi Hernandez and Hawaii’s Callee Heen, while Cal Poly’s Lindsey Chalmers, CSUN’s Savannah Horvath and the CSF duo of Julie Valenzuela and Deshea Hill earned spots on the third team.
In the Pacific region, UC Davis’ Brooke Yanez earned second team accolades. Third team honors went to UC Riverside’s Hailey Dolcini and Jenna Curtan.
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s 10 regions with first, second and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
In all, 389 student-athletes from 164 programs received 2017 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades.
