Big West Baseball Release - Week 16

The Division I Baseball Committee announced the 64-team field for the 2018 NCAA Baseball Championship and Big West Conference champion Cal State Fullerton is making its 27th consecutive appearance, 40th overall, after claiming a spot in the Stanford Regional. The Titans own the second-longest active streak in the nation behind Florida State (41 years).

The Titans (32-23) open the Regional against Baylor (36-19) Friday, June 1 at 2:00 pm (PT), while Stanford (44-10) takes on Wright State (39-15) in game two of the doubleheader at 7:00 pm. Cal State Fullerton is 8-4 against the Bears and swept the last series between the two teams in 2015.  The Cardinal, who swept Cal State Fullerton to open 2018, owns a 47-60 edge over the Titans in the all-time series while the Titans and Raiders have never met on the Diamond.  The victor of the Stanford Regional advances to the Super Regional where it is slated to face the Coastal Carolina Regional Champion, which also features Washington, UConn and LIU Brooklyn.

Each of the 16 regionals features four teams, playing a double-elimination format. The regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, June 1, to Monday, June 4 (if necessary). Selection of the eight super regional hosts will be announced on, Tuesday, June 5 at approximately 5:00 a.m. (PT).

There are 31 Division I conferences which will receive an automatic berth in the field of 64, along with 33 at-large selections. The 72nd Men’s College World Series begins play Saturday, June 16, at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.
