Ceja, Goodisson Shine For Aggies In Oregon

UC Davis swept the cross country weekly honor roll as Jordy Ceja and Eva Goodisson paced the team at the highly regarded Bill Dellinger Invitational in Springfield, Ore.

Ceja, a senior from Panorama City, Calif., paced the Aggie men with an eighth place finish in the 8K race.  Ceja finished the Springfield Country Club course in a time of 25:14.5, helping UC Davis to a fourth place team finish behind a pair of nationally ranked squads in Portland (No. 3) and Oregon (No. 8).  Seattle was third with 77 points while the Aggies collected 85.

Most impressively, Ceja outdueled Oregon's No. 2-5 runners, including two-time All-American James West (9th, 25:16.5) and seven-time All-American Blake Haney (13th, 25:24.7).  Ceja has been the top UC Davis finisher in both meets this season.

Goodisson headed up the effort on the women's side with her 11th place individual finish.  She crossed the line in 20:48.1 – the first finisher from any school besides Oregon and Nevada.  She came up less than a second shy of a top-10 showing in the 6K race.

A redshirt freshman from Havelock North, New Zealand, Goodisson's performance aided the Aggies to a third place team finish with 80 points, behind winner Oregon (15) and runner-up Nevada (62).  UC Davis outperformed regionally-ranked Portland, No. 6 in the West Region.
