NCAA TOURNAMENT TALK
With six NCAA Tournament appearances, Long Beach State coach Mauricio Ingrassia leads the conference in total Tournament appearances. Ingrassia led the Beach to the elite eight in 2011 and has won either the league’s regular season or tournament championship seven times in his 15 seasons at the helm. LBSU’s elite eight appearance is the deepest run any Big West team has made in the NCAA Tournament and with an 18-6-1 overall record that year, the campaign stands as the greatest season in program history.
The Beach made a historic run to the elite eight in 2011, first taking down Pepperdine 1-0 in Malibu, Calif. Following the victory over the Waves, in the second round, LBSU defeated Miami (FL) 1-0 in Los Angeles before taking down San Diego 1-0 in the Sweet 16. LBSU would fall to Duke 2-0 in the elite eight.
BIG WEST AT A GLANCE
The Big West kicks off conference play this week with all nine teams in action. WatchESPN will broadcast Hawai‘i at UC Irvine Friday, at 7 pm PT / 10 pm ET / 4 pm HT on the WatchESPN app.
UCR TAKES UNBEATEN MARK INTO LEAGUE
With its best start since 2004 when the Highlanders opened at 9-0, UC Riverside is 9-0-1 on the year. The Highlanders haven’t dropped a regular season match since Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017 versus Long Beach State when the Beach defeated the Highlanders 3-0 at George Allen Field. UCR is the only undefeated team in the Big West. Additionally, the Highlanders have shutout nine opponents to pace the league and have allowed just a single goal all season. With a .11 goals-against average, UCR leads the NCAA in the category. The Highlanders also lead the nation with a .971 save percentage and a .900 shutout percentage.
GONZALES TIES LBSU PROGRAM RECORD
Long Beach State senior, Ashley Gonzales, netted her 33rd career score over the weekend to tie the Beach record. Gonzales is just two scores away from breaking into the Big West top 10 in the category as she heads into her final conference slate with the Beach.
UCI, UCR, HAWAI‘I HAVE PERFECT WEEKENDS

The Anteaters defeated San Francisco and San Diego by a margin of one goal in both contests, while the Rainbow Wahine recorded two shutouts in a 2-0 victory over North Dakota State and a dominating 4-0 performance versus Grand Canyon.
