Cal Poly Duo Leads Charge at Stanford Invitational

Cal Poly teammates Justin Robison and Miranda Daschian earned Big West Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors after turning in 11th place individual finishes at a loaded Stanford Invitational.

Robison, a sophomore from Saratoga, Calif., took 11th place in the 8K with a time of 24:29.4.  His performance helped the Mustangs to a fourth place team score of 90 points behind the No. 4-ranked hosting Cardinal, No. 23 UCLA and perennial Division II power Adams State.  The Mustangs finished ahead of San Jose State, Big West rival UC Santa Barbara and Arizona State.

Daschian, a junior from Atascadero, Calif., wrapped up her second women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor this season.  She crossed the finish line in 11th following a time of 21:17.8 in the 6K.  It was the second time in two meets that Daschian has led the team – and the fifth time overall over the past two years.

Daschian's showing aided the Mustangs to a fifth place team finish with 139 points, trailing only traditional powers Stanford, Adams State, Washington and UCLA.
