1. Cal Poly Stampedes To Cross Country Championship Sweep

Cal Poly reigned supreme at the Big West Cross Country Championships, sweeping the team titles for the fifth time in program history. The 2018 Championships, hosted by Cal State Fullerton, marked a return to Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, a site which had not held the league meet since 1997.  Full Story


2. Long Beach State Crowned Big West Women’s Soccer Champs After 3-1 Win Over CSUN

Long Beach State channeled the energy from Senior Day in a positive way, scoring early and holding off CSUN for a comfortable 3-1 victory Sunday behind goals from Ashley Gonzales, Elysia Laramie and Kylee Ramirez. Full Story


3. Big West Announces Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, All-Conference

UC Irvine is the media favorite to capture the 2018 Big West men’s basketball regular season championship. The 24-member panel predicted a tightly bunched race with the Anteaters collecting 10 first-place votes and 192 points.  Full Story

The coaches and media split their favorites for the upcoming women’s basketball season as CSUN and UC Davis each earned top billing in preseason voting. The Aggies, the defending Big West regular season champion, earned the top spot in the media poll, gathering 171 points and 12 first place votes in the 20-member panel. The Matadors, who are the defending Big West Tournament champion, claimed top billing from the coaches with six first place votes and 77 points. Full Story


4. UC Riverside’s Kelly Wins World Series

Former UC Riverside baseball player Joe Kelly, a member of the Boston Red Sox pitching staff, just earned his first World Series Championship after the Red Sox  defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, Sunday evening. 


5. Women’s Volleyball Upsets No. 11 Cal Poly In Five

The University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball team (14-6, 10-1 Big West) upset No. 11 Cal Poly (19-2, 9-1 BWC) in a tough, five-set thriller, 14-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-18, 15-10 on Friday night with a season-high 7,466 tickets issued at the Stan Sheriff Center. McKenna Granato led UH’s offense and was one of three players with double-digits in kills with a team-high 17 kills. Angel Gaskin tied her season-high putting down 12 kills, while Natasha Burns notched 11 kills with a team-high six blocks—including a career-high three block solos. But it was a total team effort by Hawai’i that lifted the ‘Bows to its first victory over a ranked opponent since 2015. Full Story
