1. Men’s Soccer Beats UC Davis In PKs To Earn First Big West Championship

The loud, raucous roars resonated throughout UCR Soccer Stadium Saturday night as Daniel Castaneda belted the deciding penalty kick past UC Davis goalie Jon Laughlin, giving the Highlanders their first Big West Conference Championship in school history. Full Story

2. UC Irvine Men’s Basketball Opens Season With 2-0 Record

Junior guard Eyassu Worku hit the game-winner with six seconds remaining to lift the UC Irvine men’s basketball team to a 74-73 victory over Texas A&M Friday at Reed Arena. UC Irvine improves to 2-0 overall, its best record to start a season since 2015.The Aggies fall to 1-1 on the season. Full Story

3. Big West Unveils 37-Game ESPN3 Basketball Package

For the sixth consecutive year, the Big West Conference will provide thorough basketball coverage through its ESPN3 digital platform, featuring a minimum of 37 men’s and women’s games during the 2018-19 schedule.  Full Story

4. Cal Poly XC Earns Two At-Large Invites To NCAA Championships

The outstanding season by the Cal Poly women’s cross country program will continue as two Mustangs runners were selected to participate in the NCAA Championships. Cal Poly had juniors Miranda Daschian and Katie Izzo qualify for the national meet, thanks to top 25 performances at the NCAA West Regional meet last Friday in Sacramento. Full Story

The Big West Conference takes some time away from the court to interview sisters Lindsey and Gigi Ruddins, who both play on the UC Santa Barbara women’s volleyball team.
