ICYMI: Here are the top five things that happened in the Big West last week….In Case You Missed It!

1. CSUN’s Fluker Reaches 2000 Points

Channon Fluker scored all 18 of her points in the second half to become the ninth Big West women’s basketball player to reach the 2,000 career point plateau as CSUN rallied from 10 points down in the second half to defeat Cal State Fullerton 73-64 Saturday night. Full Story

2. Titans Take Down No. 19 TCU On Opening Day

Sophomore pitcher Tanner Bibee had a great start for the Titans (1-0) Friday afternoon as they defeated No. 19 TCU (0-1) at the Salt River Fields on opening day at the MLB4 Tournament. Full Story

3. No. 1 Long Beach State Downs No. 4 UCLA In Straight Sets; No. 6 UCSB Downs Bruins In Five Sets

The top-ranked Long Beach State men’s volleyball team set a new program record on Saturday night as the Beach swept No. 4 UCLA, 3-0 [25-20, 25-17, 25-19] to win their 33rd straight home contest surpassing the previous mark of 32 which spanned four seasons (1998-2001). With the victory, LBSU has not lost a match inside the Walter Pyramid since March 26, 2016. Full Story

In front of a rowdy Rob Gym crowd, the No. 6 UC Santa Barbara men’s volleyball team upset No. 4 UCLA in a five-set thriller, 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-12), for its ninth straight win on Wednesday night. Full Story

4. McCann Breaks All-Time Record In Battle With Delaware

The first east coast tour for the UC Riverside Men’s Tennis Team began with an absolute battle as the Highlanders fought, but were ultimately edged out 4-3 by Delaware. Despite a close match going he wrong way, UCR found a bright spot to display as senior Kyle McCann became the all time wins leader in Highlander history. The day began in doubles where down 1-0, the duo of senior Kyle McCann and freshman Andres Whelan-Merediz earned a 6-4 win on two to tie it a one a piece. With this win, McCann becomes programs all time leader in singles wins, doubles wins, and overall wins. Full Story

5. Scholtes Finishes Tied For First Place In Battle At The Rock

Trailing by seven strokes after the completion of the second round, Grand Canyon outscored the Cal Poly women’s golf team by eight shots in Tuesday’s final round to capture top honors in the Battle at the Rock held at Oak Quarry Golf Club. Mustang freshman Elizabeth Scholtes shared medalist honors with USC individual Alyaa Abdulghany with four-under-par 212 totals over 54 holes. Scholtes carded rounds of 68, 72 and 72 while Abdulghany finished with rounds of 70, 74 and 68.  Full Story
