AT A GLANCE

RAINBOW WAHINE SET PROGRAM RECORD
At the 2019 Boyd Gaming Rebels Classic, Hawai‘i opened the tournament with a record-setting eight home runs on Friday.  The Rainbow Wahine opened the tourney with a doubleheader sweep defeating Fordham, 16-12 and UTEP 12-2 in five innings. The Rainbow Wahine’s 6-1 start was its best since the 2012 season when UH started off with a 21-0 record.  UH is now 7-2 heading into the third week of play.

New Mexico will visit the island Wednesay, before the ’Bows host the Hawai‘i Invitational Thursday-Saturday.  The ’Bows then finish off the weekend with DePaul, Sunday.

HAWAII’S OFFENSE MAKES NOISE
Atop the Big West standings, Hawai‘i currently leads the league in eight offensive categories including: batting average (.325), runs (71), hits (76), RBI (62) and home runs (15).  UH enjoys shared success early in 2019 as seven Rainbow Wahine are currently hitting .400 or above, with eight ‘Bows hitting over .300.

AGGIES GET OFF TO FAST START
At the Boyd Gaming Rebel Classic,UC Davis picked up another three wins going 3-2 over the weekend with victories coming against BYU, UTEP and Georgetown.  UC Davis’ six wins in its first eight games is the team’s best start since the Aggies opened with the same record in 2010.

UC Davis jumps right back into home tournament play this weekend, welcoming four other teams to La Rue Field for the 2019 Aggie Invitational beginning Thursday, Feb. 21, and running through the weekend.

AGGIE ‘S ROUND-TRIPPERS SET NEW STANDARD
UC Davis freshman Megan Bower became the first Aggie in the program’s Division I history to homer in three straight contests when she left the yard against Montana (Feb. 9), Weber State (Feb. 15), and BYU (Feb. 15).  The utility player is just one shy of meeting the mark for most homers by a single Aggie from all of 2018.

WALK-OFF WONDERS
On the road for the first time in 2019, Cal State Fullerton recorded its fourth walk-off in 10 games to boast a 7-3 overall mark.  Cal State Fullerton will face San Diego State (6-3) in a midweek matchup at Anderson Family Field on Wednesday before the Mary Nutter Classic.

RANKED OPPONENTS ON DECK
The Big West programs will face five ranked teams this week in tournament play including: No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 5 Washington, No. 13 Arizona, No. 23 Texas A&M and No. 25 Texas Tech,.

No Big West team appears in the national polls this week.
