2019 Big West Coin Drive Final Release

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised more than $15,000 to finish the 12th annual Big West Coin Drive.

The Coin Drive, which takes place each February, unfolds on the nine conference campuses with the respective SAAC’s collecting donations for a designated charity.

For the second-consecutive year, UC Riverside raised the most money with $4,328.60 going to the Riverside Community Settlement Association. The Highlanders have now raised over $18,000 in the coin drive’s 12-year history.

In total, the Big West Coin Drive has raised over $226,000 with a 12-year aggregate of $226,494.87.

Cal Poly raised the second-highest total among the membership with $3,344.00, the most the Mustangs have ever raised in a single year with the Coin Drive. UC Irvine raised $2,721.71 to bring in the third-highest total in the conference.

Each of the nine Big West SAAC’s donated to a wide variety of charities. Those charities include Cal Poly (Hearst Cancer Resource Center); Cal State Fullerton (Team IMPACT); CSUN (California Strong); Long Beach State (CSULB Beach Pantry); UC Irvine (UC Irvine Health - Breast Cancer Center); UC Riverside (Riverside Community Settlement Association); UC Santa Barbara (Food From the Heart); Hawai‘i (Residential Youth Services & Empowerment).
