Three Big West squads were honored by United Soccer Coaches with the Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 school year, the organization announced on Thursday.
UC Davis was one of 289 programs across all divisions recognized on the men's side for successful work in the classroom, while UC Irvine and Hawai'i represented two of 484 women's programs so honored.
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all the student-athletes on the roster.
Exemplary performance in the classroom has been mirrored on the field by all three programs. The Aggie men have been nationally ranked for five consecutive weeks. The Anteater women are tied for first place with two other teams in the women's standings, while the six wins for the Rainbow Wahine already have matched their total from last season.
